Brussels Belgium
The city of Brussels, Belgium is one of the three federal regions that make up Belgium as well as being its capital city. Along with a
large Flemish community, living in this city there is a large French community as well. Because of this, the official languages of this
particular city are both French and Dutch.
The other important thing to note with regard to this city is that it is home to the European Commission and where the members of the European
Council have their headquarters as well. It where the European Ministers make their decisions on specific things reality to the
way in which the European Union is run.
Although it is a very cosmopolitan city, Brussels is also renowned for its beautiful medieval architecture. The most stunning of which
are the cities Gothic Cathedrals and the art nouveau and art deco houses to be found dotted through out its streets.
As you wander through its street, you will be faced by many different cultures and languages simply because this is believed to the crossroads
for all of the European community. Along with French and Dutch voices, you are likely to hear German, Italian, Spanish and English as
well. This further gives the city its eclectic feel.
The best place to start when visiting Brussels, Belgium is the Grand Palace that is located in the Grote Market. This square like many
of the others, which is located in the center of Brussels, has some splendid gothic and guild buildings for you to look at. It is these
buildings through out the city, which have given it the name of being one of the most beautiful in Europe today.
