The Eurostar Avignon Train

Since the inauguration of the Eurostar Avignon train journey, this has meant that getting to the South of France has become that little bit easier.  Today the journey from London to Avignon, which is close to the borders of Italy and Spain, takes just over six hours to complete.

So if you are looking for a long weekend or weeks break then why not consider heading off to this medieval city.   But this particular service only runs through the summer months from Early July until Early September every Saturday.

However although the journey takes over six hours to complete the comfort of the train means that your holiday starts as soon as you board it.  Plus the train actually arrives at the Avignon Centre station and you have easy access to everything that the city has to offer.

So within a matter of minutes after leaving the train you can be relaxing in your room before choosing to wander around and see some of the sights in the city.  But as well as the Palais des Papes (Palace of the Popes), The Opera House and its two art museums (Calvet and Petit Palais).  This city also offers you some wonderful architecture to look at and photograph as you wander down its medieval streets.

If you are looking for somewhere a little more different and yet provided you with plenty to do over a weekend then why not hop on the Eurostar Avignon train this summer.  The average price you can expect to pay for a return ticket is about £99, which would considerably less than if you choose to fly.
