Lille Christmas Market – Gets You in the Festive Mood
Each year the Lille Christmas Market takes place for a whole month in the heart of the city. The area of Rihour in Lille is taken over
not only by stalls selling arts and craft objects, but there are plenty of stalls where you can try some of the local cuisine as well.
But do not think that this market is just about being able to buy gifts for your loved ones there are plenty of other things to do as well,
including for the children. Along with the stalls, selling food and arts/crafts there is entertainment that the children and even you can
enjoy.
There are games, and theatres along with a Ferris wheel, plus if your child still believes in Santa Claus, they are able to have their
photograph taken with him. Plus if you can arrange to go to the market on the last Saturday before Christmas, you will see something
spectacular occur. On that day, Santa Claus climbs up the 80 meter high Belfry in the Chamber of Commerce building and then falls from
it.
Of all the Christmas markets held throughout France, the one in Lille has been going for many centuries now and is the largest one in the
Northern part of this country. But be aware that since the inception of the link between the UK and the city many people are now traveling
to enjoy everything that this city has to offer over the festive season so you may find it difficult to get accommodation. Therefore, it
may well be advisable to start booking for a break there for next Christmas.
